Gilead in Singapore - A Diverse and Vibrant Team

Our Singapore office was established in 2015 and is now home to Gilead employees who work across all of our therapeutic areas including HIV, viral hepatitis, COVID-19, cancer, inflammatory diseases and other conditions. This includes also Kite, a Gilead company focused on cell therapy, and Gilead Patient Solutions – the division that drives equitable health outcomes through sustainable business models in low- and middle-income countries. They all share the same dream: to create a healthier world. The team plays a critical role in the company’s Asia operations and is committed to improving care for people in Singapore through collaboration and partnership with healthcare systems and patient groups. Below is just some of our partnership projects in HIV, liver disease and oncology. For those who are interested in partnering with us, please email [email protected].

Enhancing Quality of Life for People Living with HIV

Gilead Sciences, with support from the community-based organizations from Singapore and Hong Kong, conducted a qualitative survey to understand the perceptions of people living with HIV (PLWH) on health management and quality of life. The findings highlight areas that can be strengthened, such as improvement on patient-HCP communication, patient empowerment throughout their care journey, increased awareness on chronic diseases such as renal conditions and mental health. Gilead will continue to work with local partners to enhance quality of life for PLWH.

Eliminating HCV in Singapore

Since 2022, Gilead has supported the government’s public health goals to eliminate viral hepatitis by partnering with HCSA Community Services to test and treat hepatitis C (HCV) among high-risk populations such as former drug offenders, newly released prisoners, and those in recovery from addiction. The initiative has further expanded in 2023 to cover six more halfway houses to ensure a greater reach.

Supporting the Breast Cancer Community

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Gilead employees and their families joined the Breast Cancer Foundation’s annual Pink Ribbon Walk to celebrate solidarity, hope, and courage for those impacted by the disease. It is a meaningful initiative to raise awareness of breast cancer and to pay tribute to breast cancer survivors by recognizing their resilience and triumph over adversity.

Bringing New Hope for Blood Cancer Patients in Singapore

Kite, a Gilead Company, is a global biopharmaceutical company based in Santa Monica, California, focused on cell therapy to treat and potentially cure cancer. Kite has the largest in-house cell therapy manufacturing network in the world, spanning process development, vector manufacturing, clinical trial production and commercial product manufacturing. At Gilead and Kite Oncology, our singular focus is cell therapy to treat and potentially cure cancer. Our goal is to bring the promise of cell therapy in Singapore to as many eligible patients as possible who may benefit, because we believe cell therapy has the ability to change the way cancer is treated.

Eliminating HCV in Vietnam and the Philippines

In a first of its kind public-private-academic initiative, Gilead is collaborating with the Partnership for Health Advancement in Vietnam, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to address barriers that limit viral hepatitis diagnosis and care at primary healthcare facilities in Vietnam and the Philippines, two countries where hepatitis B and C are endemic, and where governments are committed to reaching the WHO goal to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030. The partnership includes working with provincial and district hospitals in Hanoi and Thai Bin, Vietnam and Manila and Tarlac in the Philippines.

Corporate Giving

Gilead recognizes the importance of supporting our community together to create not just a healthier, but happier world. Since 2017, employees participate in the annual “Week of Service” where we pause to engage in volunteer work with charitable organizations in communities where we serve. In Singapore, we supported the inspiring work of Singapore Association for Mental Health and Blossom Seeds, to name just a few.
